Currently considered one of the best players in the world and arguably the best player in the history of the Senegalese football team, Sadio Mané had a noisy spell in England, notably with the Liverpool club. According to Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, an agreement in principle has been reached between the Senegalese and the Bavarian club. In the meantime, here are 10 things to know about Sadio Mané.

1. The first major competitions he won were with Salzburg in Austria in 2013 (Austrian championship and cup).
2. In 2019, he was 4th in the Ballon d'Or rankings behind Ronaldo, and his former Liverpool team-mate Virgil Van Dijk and Messi.
3. At 15, the young Mané fled his home to go to Daka, the capital of his country, leaving his family in disarray.
4. He played his first Champions League match in the qualifying phase against Fenerbahçe on July 31, 2013 (1-1).
5. He made his England debut on September 23 in a 2-1 League Cup win over Arsenal.
6. The Senegalese, being at Southtampton, scored his first Premier League goal in a crushing 8-0 win over Sunderland on 18 October 2014, although it was later awarded as an own goal to Patrick van Aanholt.
7. He holds the Premier League record for the fastest hat-trick, 2 minutes 56 seconds against Aston Villa at home on 16 May 2015.
8. With his move to Liverpool in 2016, he became the most expensive African player in football history.
9. On February 14, 2018, he became the first Senegalese to score a hat-trick in the Champions League.
10. Mané participates in the construction in his hometown, Bambali, of a high school and recently of a hospital.
